SAINT MATTHEW'S
EPISCOPAL CHURCH
36 NEW CANAAN RD
WILTON, CT 06897
All ages are welcome to participate in worship!
About
By virtue of their baptism, in The Episcopal Church all children are full members and are welcome to receive the bread and wine of Holy Communion at the Eucharist.
St. Matthew’s Sanctuary also offers a “soft space” for parents and their little ones, a place where toddlers can participate in worship as well as move around with their parent/s or grandparent. With a pew to sit on or a mat on the floor for playing, quiet toys, puzzles, and pictures books are available for busy hands and bodies.
There is also a special area in the Narthex (foyer) for children with items they can bring into the pew or the soft space: picture books, a weekly children’s bulletin to color with activities, crayons, and colored pencils. Worship bags hang in the corner, each personalized by name for each of our children that are filled with quiet activities to engage them while they listen to the music, prayers, and words of worship while sitting in the pew. Bags without names are also available for our visiting children and grandchildren.
Youth are welcome to acolyte (grade 4 and up), serve as a lector (reader), or usher during worship.
CHURCH SCHOOL
Children are always welcome at St. Matthew’s during worship as well as Church School. From September through early June, beginning at 10:00 a.m., children in Kindergarten through Grade 7 are welcome to gather with our friends from Wilton Presbyterian Church, with the exception for the first Sunday of the month when they worship with their family.
During Church School, children have a chance to engage with Bible stories, ask questions about God, learn to pray, and have fun! Volunteer teachers engage them with crafts and games in a safe space where they can learn, make new friends, and be just who are they are. We encourage our children to serve others both within our church communities and in the larger world, with activities such as writing letters, making Valentines, and creating gifts for others.
Nursery Care is also available for littles under the age of five each Sunday. If you have questions, please be in touch with Rev. Tommy.

YOUTH
St. Matthew’s has a rich history of engaging youth and creating memorable experiences that foster fellowship, connection, and personal growth. We believe in building an inclusive environment where young people can express themselves authentically, embracing their individuality as a source of strength.
Our programs are designed to inspire and empower youth, offering opportunities to form lasting friendships, explore passions, and develop talents. At St. Matthew’s, every young person is warmly welcomed and valued for who they are, assuring them that our community is a safe and supportive space for all. Join us and be part of this inspiring journey!
Youth in Grades 8–12 are invited to gather on the first Sunday (in the Upper Core) and fourth Sunday (in the Alcove) of the month from 10:00–11:30 a.m. This is a time for fellowship and community building. On other Sundays they are welcome to fully participate in worship and are invited to serve in various roles such as lectors, ushers, and acolytes.
From September through June new activities and beloved favorites are offered. Initiatives include opportunities for service, such as participating in a dedicated Youth Team for Rise Against Hunger. Fun off-campus outings are also held. These events aim to foster teamwork, leadership, and community service among our youth in Middle and High School.

NURSERY
Every Sunday of the year, children from infancy through three-years- old are provided a safe, warm, and welcoming environment in our nursery during Sunday services under in the care of our Safe Church trained, paid supervisor, Lucia Sato.
Help is always welcome! No experience is necessary – just a care heart and willingness to play with our little ones. Volunteers must be in high school or older.
Make sure to join the WEPCO Nursery Facebook Group (this is a private group) for detailed updates.
