STEWARDSHIP

“For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.”

––1 Chronicles 29:14, NRSV

This verse from scripture reflects our deepest understanding of thanksgiving and stewardship––God gives us everything! When we give to God, others, and the church, we are really giving back what is originally a gift from God. As caretakers of these gifts, we support our church and God’s mission by using our time, our skills, and our financial resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

Stewardship is a sacred and longstanding Episcopal tradition. Each pledge is an act of faith. Collectively our gifts enable possibilities we could never imagine along. These pledges are St. Matthew's primary source of funding, aside from the annual auction and other small gifts. Without these commitments from members, we would not be able to maintain the church and all its ministries.

The Bible often refers to a "tithe" (meaning 10% of one's income) as a reminder to God's people about how to be generous in their giving. It's a goal to work toward for some, a hope to exceed for others.

No gift is too small. Every gift makes a difference. The best thing we can do is prayerfully consider what God gives us and how much we can give back.

A financial pledge is a faithful promise, a sacrificial gift. God hopes and expects for us to give back from what we've been given. And your pledge makes our life togehter, all that we too, and all that we share possible.

What percentage of your income do you feel God calling you to give?

If you have any questions, please reach out to our Finance team. You may fill out a pledge form online (see below), fill out a Pledge Card and return it by mail to the church office, or drop it in the offering plate during worship.

Our Ingathering of Pledges for the 2026 budget year was held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, the Second Sunday of Advent. However, pledges can be made at any time of the year. Below you will find a letter from the Reverend John Branson our Interim Rector, a Stewardship Pledge Card, and information about St. Matthew's budget.
