ST. MATTHEW'S VISIONING

“The Church is not tradition. The Church is not the past.

The Church is what we do next.”

––Cardinal Benitez in Conclave

For St. Matthew’s and it's parishioners to serve our mission here in the Wilton community, a committee was formed in the Spring of 2025 to more closely connect with the needs of the town and its surrounding area for the purpose of visioning what God is calling us to do with the gifts that we have been given in new ways beyond our doors.

SO, ... WHAT'S NEXT?

t’s no secret that our numbers are smaller. But our spirit is strong!

We continue to contemplate our strengths, weaknesses, resources, and goals. We reflect on what Jesus is calling us to do with those strengths, weakness, and resources. We have been asking and contemplating the tough questions:

  • How can we have a greater presence in our community?

  • How are needs changing in Wilton and how can we be of greater service "out there"?

  • How do we communicate better with the parish and the community?

  • Are we too formal on Sundays?

  • Should we make St. Matthew’s less intimidating to new families?

  • How do we build greater awareness of St. Matthew’s outside our doors?

  • How can we best collect input to answer these questions?

We have spoken with many parishioners for their perspective. We know we haven’t spoken to everyone. Reach out to our committee members with your ideas and views on where we go from here. We want to hear from you!
