CONFIRMATION

At St. Matthew’s, Confirmation preparation is an invigorating journey that involves spending a complete semester diving into the Christian faith, the Episcopal Church, and their wider world. We are committed to helping our children embrace our Episcopal tradition while continuing to develop into faithful Christians who navigate the world, reflecting God’s love. Officiated by one of the bishops of Connecticut, the Rite of Confirmation typically occurs during the Spring at a regional gathering in a parish in The Episcopal Church in Connecticut.

We’re dedicated to providing a welcoming space where they can ask questions, explore their thoughts, and feel embraced by God's love. Together, we can cultivate confidence and joy in their journey. To support them in their journey, confirmands (someone seeking Confirmation) are paired with adult mentors from our community, who guide them as they step into the world of committed adults. The Rite of Confirmation allows those who are ready and have a desire to reaffirm the promises made on their behalf at baptism, are invited to receiving the bishop’s laying-on-of-hands after such preparation that involves regular worship, mission opportunities, and small group study.

If your child is interested in being confirmed, please send an email to Rev. Tommy. As an adult, if you are interested in Confirmation, Reception, or Reaffirmation, please contact Interim Rector, the Rev. John Branson.
