Worship on Sunday, March 12, 2023 – Festival of Children Service

We have such a treat in store for us this Sunday! All are invited to the Celebration of Children service held this year in the Wilton Presbyterian Church sanctuary at 10 am. Both St. Matthews’ children and Wilton Presbyterian Church’s children will lead us in worship with a wonderful sermon on the story of Jesus’ calming of the seas. They will make Mark’s story come alive for us, showing the fear of the disciples who were in the boat with Jesus and how Jesus stilled the storm. Our children and youth will lead us and teach us this Sunday, as they often do. And both congregations will join together to honor them.

My favorite Trinity, Collinsville, stained-glass window was a depiction of Jesus with children from all around the world with different skin colors and different ethnicities. It was the story from Matthew’s Gospel when Jesus told the disciples, “Let the little children come to me….” The disciples wanted Jesus to get on to other things, and Jesus wanted to bless them. Jesus loves little children and youth—we know that and they know that. Let’s show them together how much we love and support them by joining this collaborative Celebration of Children.

Our children and youth have so much to give and so much to teach each of us. They are blessed members of our churches. They are the church of today and the church of the future. Please come and celebrate with them. Following the service will be a coffee hour where we can rejoice in our worship together and be children of God all under one roof! I hope to see you and thank you for joining this fun celebration together.

With blessings,

Linda+
