St. Matt's Summer Read 2022

Join in on our Summer Read! We'll gather three times over the summer to reflect on the three parts of the book. Don't worry - if you have to miss one or two, it's totally okay to be present when you can be. And as always, we hope you'll consider reading the book even if you can't join in the conversations this summer! Take it with you to the beach, on the plane, or wherever your travels take you.
This incredible little book is a deep exploration of healing and forgiveness written by the late Desmond Tutu and his daughter, Mpho. It will give us an opportunity for rich conversation and an invitation into both prayer and action as individuals and as a community. Forgiveness is an important part of our life of faith, and when we grapple with pain and the issues of the day it can feel both mysterious and elusive. Let's discover together wisdom about how to give and receive forgiveness.
Save the dates now and join us if you can. More information will come out soon about gathering.

When buying the book, keep two other things in mind. At the beginning of the book, it encourages you to find two other things that will be "supplies for the journey". They are a journal (which will become your own book of forgiving) and a stone. You're encouraged to go find "a stone that appeals to you on some level. It can be beautiful or ugly. It shouldn't be a pebble, nor should it be a boulder. Find a stone with some weight to it. It should be small enough to carry in the palm of your hand and large enough that you won't lose it."
