September begins, nursery news, and what's up next!
Dear friends,
I hope that you had a wonderful summer. (Apologies for the past tense!) I'm so excited about what the fall will bring us here at St. Matt's. We have a full calendar ahead of us: time together, fun, learning, and worship. I have new faces to introduce, new people who will share their gifts with this community. And there is good news all around the place - it feels to me like we are filled with energy, ready to continue our journey together and to share the love of God with the people around us. For now, a few important things to share with you - and then there will be more soon!
One piece of good news is that over the summer our nursery moved. A team of parishioners from St. Matt's & WPC along with our WEPCO and Nursery staff carefully planned and moved our nursery from the lower floor to a much more accessible place upstairs. Sandy graciously moved herself (and her office!) around the corner and she and Al Galletly are now sharing some space so that our nursery can be more easily accessible to parents and families. And it is lovely. There are still some plans in the works to purchase a few more things for the space, but stop in on Sunday morning and take a look at it. I'm so grateful for this new, beautiful space for our youngest members and visitors.
Next week is our Parish Picnic (9/8) so make sure you plan to stay (or come back!) for a picnic after the 10:00am worship service. More information on that in the newsletter, so do take a look at that. And remember - we return to our normal worship schedule this week (9/1), so please plan to be here at 8am or 10am! I'll be happy to see you if you come at 9:30, but you'll be a little earlier than you think!
Also on 9/8 - the first of our Mission Partners will be here to talk to you about opportunities to serve in our community. We'll have folks from HomeFront here at both services to share with you a little bit about their work and how you can be involved. You can also spend more time in conversation with them at a 9am forum. Our other two Mission Partners will visit us in October to spend time with us and share their story. Come hear a little more of the HomeFront story on 9/8 at 9am.
As the season turns and we all settle back into the rhythm of the year, I hope you'll take a careful look at our calendar and at our newsletters. Plan to incorporate God and St. Matt's into these next few months of your life and spiritual journey. Join us on the road as we dive deeper into new mission partnerships, dig into Paul's letter to the Hebrews, meet up for Pub Theology, kick off youth groups & Church School, and so much more. Keep an eye out for some more good news that will make its way to you in the next few weeks. And plan to join in on the fun of this season at St. Matt's. God is up to something wonderful, here - and I'm so glad I get to share it with you.
Faithfully,
Marissa +
