October: What's next
Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
First, some words of thanks. Thank you to all of you who shared in our joy on Sunday as God made a covenant with our little one. I'm so grateful to all of you. And I'm especially grateful to all of you who played a role in the day, whether it was pulling together that festive coffee hour, the Altar Guild who prepared, everyone who had a role in the service, the flowers, and my staff that helped to make the day so special. I'm grateful to all of you. Thank you.
In two weeks, many of us will gather in Hartford for two special events. The first is the Consecration of our new Bishop at the Convention Center on October 15th. There is an opportunity now for the public to register, all of you are invited, all of you are welcome. Join me, members of the parish, and Andrew at the Convention Center for this wonderful day; click here to register. You can also choose to register for worship on Sunday morning at our Cathedral for the Seating of the new Bishop. That service will begin at 10am. You are welcome to join me and some other members of the parish that morning; click here to register. Both of these services will also be streamed so you could choose to watch them from home. We will share the link when it comes out. Space is limited at both - so please register soon if you'd like to attend.
Keep in mind that worship at St. Matt's will be a little different on 10/16 as I'll be at the seating in Hartford! We are fortunate that Andrew will lead Morning Prayer that day. So, if you'd like to come to St. Matt's that morning, you can come and support Andrew and be a part of worship with him. Also make sure to ask him about what his day was like the day before when he conducted the choir at the Consecration!
One more thing about the Consecration weekend. On Friday (10/14), the Presiding Bishop and the Bishop-elect are hosting a special breakfast for young adults. It's a work day - and a tough time to get away, for sure. And if you or someone you know might be interested in spending time with us that morning, registration is here.
October is a busy month for us. There is a lot going on - including our auction on 10/23. And there are other new opportunities for adults and kids in the next few weeks. Please take a careful look through our e-news and plan to join in on the fun. I look forward to seeing you and I hope to see you on Sunday.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
