November begins!

Dear friends and members of St. Matt’s,

We find ourselves today in the midst of what many people believe to be a “thin place“. Beginning with Halloween, through All Saints’ Day (yesterday) and All Souls’ Day (today), we mark together several days on the religious calendar that remind us of the thin veil between us and all that we cannot see. And we remember specifically all those people we love and see no longer. And we give thanks for all the promises of God that this life we see now is not all there is – that there is eternal life stored up for us in a place where there is no pain and no sadness, a place where God has swallowed up death forever. I’d love to talk with you more about these days if you are feeling the pull of these days.

This weekend, we’ll have the gift of welcoming our new Canon to the Ordinary. You can read more about Canon Ranjit and his position here. Canon Ranjit will be here to preach during our worship at 10:00am on Sunday and then will stay after for a time to be in conversation with you. He’ll share with you some of his story and his work, while also being able to map out the Bishop’s work and hopes for the future. Please plan to come to worship, help us make him welcome, and then stay for this important conversation. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions and for us to show him that special St. Matthew’s welcome as he’s never been here before!

As we gear up for the holidays, please keep a careful eye on our e-news and socials – there is a lot coming your way! Some of it is in the e-news today, and there is much more to come. Please come out for the WEPCO clean up on Saturday if you can! And I hope to see you on Sunday. Until then, God loves you. And so do I.

Faithfully,

–Marissa +
