Lent Continues.
Dear friends and members of St. Matt’s,
I hope many of you will join me on Saturday morning for a time of quiet and reflection. On Saturday, the sanctuary will be open and ready for you to visit from 9:30am-12pm. If you’ve been on retreat with me, or maybe you’ve heard me say it before: I believe retreats and quiet days are meant to be restorative. It’s special time for you to draw away from the world, away from all the things that require your attention, and make room to listen for God. It’s a chance for renewal. A chance for peace. A chance for God to say something new to you that you haven’t been able to hear over the din.
You don’t have to come at 9:30am. And you don’t have to leave at noon. Come when you can, leave when you must. There will be some light refreshment to sustain you. And as is the case every year, there will be some books & art supplies & things for you to engage with or contemplate if you’d like. This is intentionally free, unstructured time. We’ll say a few prayers at 9:30am before we enter into the silence. And we’ll say a few prayers at noon to close out the time together. The rest of the time is up to you.
If you have questions, feel free to send me a note. I hope to see you on Saturday and Sunday. And I hope you’ll take a good look through the e-news to see what other opportunities you might take advantage of in this Lenten season to draw more near to the Lord. Until we are together again, God loves you. And so do I.
Faithfully,
–Marissa +
