Easter: They knew him in the breaking of the bread.
Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
There are many things in our e-news today that are important - and we have a very full few weeks ahead. So, please take a careful look at all the ways to connect and grow in your faith during this time. There are three things, in particular, that I want to highlight today.
This past Sunday, we heard the story of the road to Emmaus, and how the disciples recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread. We aren't able to break bread together at worship, so I thought we might try something else. In our newsletter today is an invitation to a virtual potluck on May 8th. Save the date and join us for just an hour - from 6:30-7:30pm. Make some dinner, and set an extra place at the table for your device. And we'll break bread together (extra points if you actually bake your own!). And in our sharing of time and food, I'm sure we'll be reminded of that bond we share on Sunday morning at communion.
And this coming Sunday, May 3rd, you're invited to join us in a Zoom room at 2pm for a Parish Update. Come hear from me and the Officers about where we are in the midst of this season. We'll share some information about the life of the place and about the season ahead.
And last but not least, on Tuesdays in May you'll have a chance to hear from scholars about the work of Karl Barth. This is a special opportunity for adults who are interested in growing in their understanding of theology. And if a few of you participate, we'll form a group that meets throughout the month of May to debrief the sessions. Click here to learn more about this opportunity, and send me a note if you're interested in being part of that group.
There is so much more included in our e-news. Make us a part of your rhythm, a part of your routine in this season. Connect with us and with God and know the comfort and peace of faith and community. Be in touch if you need anything and know that you're in my prayers.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
