Annual Meeting on February 4th

Dear friends and members of St. Matt’s,

I hope this note finds you well! And that you’ve made your way through these last few days of rain. At least it’s been a little warmer! I’m grateful for that.

I have just a few things coming up that I want to highlight for you in this space today. First, hopefully you know already that our Annual Meeting is coming up on February 4th. I think most of you have heard me say by now that I have lots of colleagues who don’t love the Annual Meeting – but I do! It’s how we tell the story, in community, of the year that has passed. And it’s how we begin to look ahead to the year that now stretches out before us. It’s an important time – and an important conversation. Your lay leaders and I are committed to transparency – so we will share with you as much as we can and answer your questions as honestly as we can. Please come and join us – come to worship at 10am that day – and then stay afterwards for our meeting. If you’re joining us online that day, the meeting will be streamed only on our website – not on Facebook. So you’ll need to watch from there. Thank you!

Just a week and a half after that – on February 14th – Lent begins with Ash Wednesday. I always laugh a little bit when those two days coincide. It makes for a rather funny Valentine’s Day if that’s something that you mark! We will have one service that day at 7:30pm. So, please take note of that and mark your calendars. Lent and Easter come to us fairly early this year – so if you’re thinking it’s too soon – you’re not alone!

In the next few weeks, we’ll continue to roll out some other events for you to participate in throughout Lent. For now, know that you are all in my prayers. And I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Faithfully,

–Marissa +
