Music

Music is a vibrant and vital part of our church and its community. Not only is it highly valued by the congregation, but music is fundamental to many aspects of the Episcopal liturgy. Our 10:00am service on Sundays features choir and organ throughout most of the year (September–June). During the summer, we worship through hymns and solo music.

Music is transformative, both for those who learn and perform it and for those who listen to and reflect on it in church. We seek to use music as an enriching force in the lives of all who hear or make it at St. Matthew’s: children, whose growth in music shapes them into intelligent, creative, and social individuals; adults, who delight in the fellowship inherent to choral singing and whose musical growth never ends; and congregants, whose prayer and worship are enhanced when expressed through music.

Thinking about joining the larger Wilton community, our Music Director, Irina writes about the joy and anticipation of a new season in her own words, “In preparation for St. Matthew’s upcoming services and special music events, I am excited to
extend an invitation to all of you: If you love to sing, have ever considered joining a choir, or are looking for a
meaningful way to connect with others, we would love for you to join St. Matthew’s Choir: a welcoming community
that shares a passion for music, enjoys being together, and is dedicated to serving God through song. The choir’s
diversity in age, vocal skills, and musical background, and their love for all vocal genres makes them a welcoming
and warm community where singers feel safe and appreciated. We believe that music has the power to bring people
together, to inspire, and to uplift, and we would be thrilled to have you join us in this ministry.

“Rehearsals are a time of fellowship, learning, and joyful exploration. We meet every Thursday from 7:30PM to
9:00PM in the choir room and no formal audition is required—just a willing heart and a love for singing. Please also
