Baptisms
Baptism is just the start of a spiritual journey, inviting us more and more deeply into the mystery of faith. Before one is baptized, they make a series of vows about how they intend to live their life with Jesus going forward. If we’re baptizing a baby, their parents and Godparents make these promises for them until they’re old enough to make them for themselves. And then, the Priest asks the congregation if they will do all in their power to support the one about to be baptized in the vows that have just been made. That’s why at St. Matthew’s, Baptism comes with the expectation of joining our community. It takes community to live a faithful life, we need each other. And we want to take the journey with you.
Baptism is especially appropriate at the Easter Vigil, the Day of Pentecost, All Saint’s Day or the Sunday following, and the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (the First Sunday after the Epiphany).
