St. Matthew’s Celebrates Pride

No matter who you are, no matter where you are on your journey, you are loved. You are loved by God. And we will celebrate with you and whoever it is that you love. There is a place for you, here.

Sundays at 10:00am.

St. Matthew’s is an Episcopal Church, a part of the Global Anglican Communion, a church with deep roots and a long history. We are proud of some of this heritage, and we repent of other pieces of the story even as we seek ways to reconcile with those who have been hurt by the church historically. Today at St. Matthew’s, we take our welcome very seriously. All people are welcome here, no exceptions.

And specifically, if you are an LGBTQIA+ identifying person, we believe that God loves you. And we want to journey with you, grow with you, sing with you, serve with you, eat with you, support you, and celebrate you. As a community, we will walk alongside you through the highs and lows of life, the triumphs and tragedies. Our Rector will gladly preside over the Sacraments at key moments in your life: if you have a child to baptize, want to marry someone you love, or need to bury someone you love and see no longer.

We have programs for kids and adults that are welcoming and affirming. From our Children & Youth programs to Music to Adult Faith Formation, we create and hold space for you to be authentically you, as God intended.

We are here for you.

Children and Youth

At St. Matthew’s, our goal is to share God’s love and the stories demonstrating that love in a way that creates space for tough questions and empowers children and youth to be in the driver’s seat on their journey of faith. We strive to cultivate relational community that allows each unique individual to show up as they are and to be loved fully. Our programs are centered on service to communities in need and harnessing those service experiences to understand God’s call to love our neighbor as ourselves in word and deed.

The Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry is Samantha Trolice, who has seven years of experience in youth ministry space. She believes in the transformative power of Jesus and is inspired by the freedom that comes from abiding with him. Outside of the church walls, she can usually be found coffee cup in hand and nose deep in a book. She graduated from Quinnipiac University with a degree in Film and Interactive Media and previously spent 5 years working in the TV Industry.

Music

St. Matthew’s is a richly musical church. We believe that music is a vehicle for the proud expression of our authentic selves and our faith. Our Sunday service at 10:00am features choir & organ throughout most of the year. We seek to use music as an enriching force in the lives of everyone at St. Matthew’s: children and adults alike. All children are welcome to join our Chorister program from Kindergarten upward, and all adults and high-schoolers are welcome to join our Church Choir, regardless of musical experience and faith background. Our program offers a first-rate musical experience in a friendly, fun, and safe environment.

The Director of Music is Andrew Leslie Cooper, a British-American conductor, vocalist, and keyboardist who has been active in the professional music spheres on both sides of the Atlantic. Before being appointed at St. Matthew’s, Andrew lived in his native UK, where he belonged to the renowned early-music ensemble The Gesualdo Six and the Choir of Her Majesty’s Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace.
