Mental Health & Suicidal Ideation
One thing that has come to the fore in the last few years of pandemic is our deep need to pay attention to and address our own mental health and to care for the mental health of those around us. If you are experiencing challenges and don’t know where to turn for help, St. Matt’s is a safe place for you to share your story. Reach out to Marissa. While not trained as a therapist or counselor, Marissa can help you find the next safe step to take to get the support you need. The leadership of St. Matthew’s has also participated in some trainings around grief, mental health, and how to support each other in the midst of a crisis. You are not alone.
While people experience suicidal ideation for many reasons, most people who consider suicide have problems they think they can never overcome. It feels like no one will be able to help and suicide is the only way out. People who are considering suicide may feel:
- Helpless, like there is nothing they can do to make things better
- Hopeless, thinking their problem cannot be solved by them or anyone else
- Worthless, thinking they’re unable to help themselves or feeling like a failure
- Hateful toward themselves
- Like they are a burden to others
- As if the pain of living is too much to bear
If you are experiencing any of these thoughts or actions, you should seek immediate support.
