DC Mission Trip

For more than 25 years, the High School Youth Group has gone to Washington DC during the February school break to work for a variety of agencies that provide services for the homeless and others in need, and to meet individuals who are living on the street. We stay at The Pilgrimage, a service learning hostel in the basement of a Presbyterian Church and volunteer at many different agencies including soup kitchens, DC Central that prepares 5,000 meals a day, Food and Friends that prepares and delivers food to people who are critically ill, A Wider Circle that provides furniture and home goods to those finally moving into apartments, and Capital Food Bank, to name just a few.We also prepare sandwich lunches and take them out to the homeless in Dupont Circle. It is a transformational time where we learn how interconnected we all are.
