Summer is here!
Dear friends and members of St. Matthew’s,
This Sunday, you have the chance to come to church and hear one of our longest lectionary texts: the story of David and Goliath! If you remember a little bit about it from church school, you know it’s a classic. I can’t promise that I’m going to preach on it – but who knows? Maybe! Come hear this story from Hebrew Scriptures and wonder with me about what God is up to.
Sunday begins our summer worship pattern. We’ll be a little shorter and a little more casual. And on the 7th, we’ll gather outside in our outdoor sanctuary (barring rain!). While our calendar slows down a lot, our worship and fellowship continues. As does my work this summer. I am already in the midst of planning for next year – and very much in the midst of looking for some new teammates to join us in our ministry. The Vestry and I will meet on the 30th after church. So, this is a great time to approach me or one of them about your thoughts and ideas about the coming year. Please do be in touch – I’d love to hear from you.
I hope you all are enjoying this official start to summer – and that you’re managing to stay cool this week! We will be inside in the air conditioning on Sunday (6/23) – so don’t worry! Come join us.
Faithfully,
–Marissa +
