New year, new faces, new projects - same love, same community.
Dear friends,
On Sunday, we begin officially this new program year. It's going to be a bit of a wild day. We'll have two new faces joining us - our Deacon, Don Burr will be here for the first time. You can meet him at both services. And our new Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries will be here as well. It's Samantha's first day on site, so she'll have a very busy fall getting up to speed with our kids and all the fun already planned for this year. Sunday is the first day of Church School and there's a High School Youth Welcome Back party - so it will be a busy day for Samantha, too.
At the 10:00am service, we'll bless backpacks, bags, and briefcases for kids of all ages (including you!). And we'll welcome back our Adult Choir. Afterwards, we'll celebrate our big Fall Kickoff with a Joint Coffee Hour with WPC. There will be treats and (hopefully) sunshine and a bouncy house. It will be a very busy and very joyful day. I hope you'll be here.
It's about to be a very busy fall around here, filled with all kinds of different opportunities to learn and connect. So keep an eye on our newsletters and on our website to make sure you don't miss anything. It feels to me like so much is emerging - and while it looks new, and the rhythms and faces are new, what hasn't changed is the heart of this place. The gifts of this community and the relationships we share with each other and with God are only deepening and transforming, even as new ideas and new patterns emerge. I hope you can find as much joy and comfort in that as I do.
Know that God is with you as much in the busy-ness of the day as in the stillness, as much at the sports game as in the church, and as much in the pain as in the joy. And know that you're in my prayers until we're together on Sunday.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
PS - Yes, that's my backpack Matt from last year. Come on 9/22 for St. Matthew's Day and see what Flat Matt has in store for you this year!
