New things for the fall!
Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
It's a busy day today in Wilton as school buses make the rounds again. A welcome sound for many of you, I know! Whether today is the first day of school for you as a teacher, staff, or administrator, the first day for your kids, or you've had (or will have) a different first day, know that you are all very much in my prayers and the prayers of the staff. We hope all of you will have a very safe and productive fall. And I hope that as the fall unfolds, you'll all continue to find some time for connection with St. Matt's and for prayer and reflection. Finding time to center and to ground ourselves in the midst of a season like this is so important. In fact, there will be a really wonderful opportunity for that tonight.
You may have seen in the e-news last week that Compline is returning tonight in a slightly different form. We hope that you'll join us at 9pm in a Zoom room for sung compline (link below). Tonight we'll be joined by some special guests and our time together will look different than it has in the past. And because we are all in a Zoom room together, we'll have a chance to see each other and to talk for a little while after the service concludes. Scott and I are very excited about this new beginning for Compline and or a sweet moment of connection together, after our prayers, as we all make our way then to the end of the evening. It will be special tonight, so please join us.
Also, I've mentioned that Coffee Hour will return in a different format this fall as well. Beginning on 9/20, you're invited to join us in a Zoom room at 9am on Sundays. At first, these coffee hours will be hosted by Vestry members, and I'm grateful for their leadership. Come and connect for about an hour (or part of the hour) before we all worship together online at 10:00am. Bring your coffee and see some of those faces you've been missing.
Finally, a short reminder that this Sunday (9/13), we invite you to join us in a Zoom room for our regular Parish Update at 11:30am. Members of the staff, officers and I will share with you some information about the summer, where the parish is, the survey results, as well as what plans we can share for the fall and winter. It promises to be a full morning and I'm looking forward to sharing with you all the good news about our life together. Our official kick-off for this program year is September 20th, so we'll be unfolding new plans over the next few weeks in preparation for St. Matthew's Day!
Until then, if you need anything, please don't hesitate to be in touch. May God bless you and keep you and your family safe today and everyday.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
