Open Doors "Stuff-A-Sock" Collection
St. Matt's recently collected toiletry items and socks for our mission partner, Open Doors. Students from the Horizons Program (a tuition free academic program serving students in the Norwalk community) will be stuffing the socks for Open Doors, who will then distribute the items to the homeless in the Norwalk area. This was a great collaborative effort -- one helper to another. We are truly grateful for the many generous donations from our St. Matt's family. Way to go !!
From Erin McDonough, Director of Community Relations, Open Doors
"Essential items like socks and toiletries make a huge difference for people who are dealing with homelessness. When Open Doors' outreach case managers are connecting with people in our area who have been living in their cars or literally on the streets, providing these essentials helps people's day-to-day lives and also becomes a building block of trust between them. The Stuff-A-Sock initiative is a wonderful way for our community to come together and make a difference for our neighbors in need. We're truly thankful for your support!"
Circle of Care is looking for volunteers to help organize and donate - can you help?
Circle of Care has asked for in-person volunteers in July to help with two cleaning and organizing projects they need to complete, as well as help finding places where they can donate some of their books. St. Matt's volunteers to the rescue! Volunteers can be any age, but children need to be accompanied by an adult. All volunteers will adhere to Circle of Care COVID protocols. Please email Pam Ely with any questions.
