Mission and Memorial: Open Doors and Homeless Memorial Day
Please see the invitation below from one of our Mission Partners, Open Doors, to attend a memorial service on Friday, December 20th for the homeless in our community who passed away in the last year. We will add these names to our Prayers of the People on Sunday, December 22nd.
If you can, please consider going to support the work of Open Doors and to remember those who were lost.
During 2019 we partnered with you to provide crucial services and a path to a brighter future for people dealing with homelessness and poverty. Your work provided them with the inspiration to change their lives. Your help gave them hope.
However, the ravages of homelessness, in spite of all our efforts, continue to affect people here in our community. December 21 is Homeless Memorial Day. It falls on the shortest day of the year, followed by the longest night, and is representative of the endless nights that an individual might have if it were not for the care we provide together.
This year Open Doors will be hosting a short service to remember those who were lost. We will gather outside the Smilow Life Center at 55 Chestnut Street, Norwalk, CT 06854 at 7:00PM on Friday, December 20th for a brief memorial service and welcome anyone who would like to join us.
We would ask that you remember the individuals we lost from our community. Those who we lost were:
Craig Alexander, Sydney Herring, Dennis Labertrandie, Sharlene Landers, John “ Peaches” Wright.
Your commitment to those in need is truly appreciated. Thank you for all you do.
