Maundy Thursday

Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
Tonight we enter into the three most holy days of the Christian calendar. These three days lie at the heart of our faith, at the heart of our hope. Tonight, we'll gather at 7pm to tell the story of this night. To participate in contemplative worship led by our choir. And we will share in the feast that Jesus institutes tonight. Come and join us. Come and journey with Jesus tonight from the Upper Room to the Garden where he is betrayed, arrested, and taken away.
Then tomorrow, we'll gather at noon for the traditional Good Friday service. As Jesus suffers on the cross from 12-3pm, we will gather to pray. And join us again in the evening at 7pm for a really special devotional concert featuring our own Andrew Leslie Cooper.
Saturday morning, our tradition is to gather in the sanctuary for a very short service before any preparations are made for Easter. On this day we acknowledge the emptiness of the world without Jesus in it. There's very little to say. And it is the shortest service in the prayerbook - it literally runs no more than 8 minutes. We'll begin at 9am and it will help prepare us and the sanctuary for all that is to come on Sunday.
And of course, I hope you'll join us on Sunday morning for the Feast of the Resurrection at 10am. I won't say more about that now except to say there will be an Easter egg hunt for the kids afterwards! You won't want to miss out on the fun or the fantastic music.
God bless you and keep you. God walk with you through these holy days. God loves you. And so do I.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
