Joint worship with WPC
Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
What a joy it was this past Sunday to have a (more) full space! Thank you all for joining us for joint worship with WPC. Please keep in mind that for the next two Sundays, we'll be worshipping in WPC's sanctuary across the courtyard. I'll be preaching this week and then the last Sunday of August you'll hear again from the Rev. Mark Montgomery. I've shared in worship the last few weeks that I treasure this month of August when we worship together. Jesus, as he's preparing to leave the disciples, prays for the church: that we all may be one. And while there are so many denominations and different ways of being a Christian in the world, this joint worship that we do is one small, tangible way that we are living into Jesus' prayer. We're choosing to be together, to worship across difference, and to experience the way the other community worships. It's a beautiful thing.
If you're not joining us in person, but want to join us online, we'll be posting and including in the e-news links to the WPC livestream so that you can join us virtually on Sunday morning.
As we near the end of August, we're beginning to ramp up for the fall. I won't say too much yet - but please begin to keep an eye on our e-news and website to see all the great things that we have planned for the fall. Our kick off & St. Matthew's Day is planned for September 18th. We'll have a big, fun joint coffee hour with WPC (including bouncy house & food truck!). And then we will be off to the races.
In the meantime, there are still quite a few things to do between now and then. So, join us for the last summer read conversation, and for a hymn sing with Andrew on 8/25, among other things. And come worship this Sunday at WPC along with your Presbyterian and Episcopalian siblings in Christ.
Until we're together again, God bless you and keep you.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
