HomeFront, Parish Picnic, and a busy start to the year!
Dear friends,
What a busy fall we're about to have at St. Matt's. I'm so looking forward to this start, to the new faces who are joining us on the journey, and to all that this new year will bring.
I hope you'll all be here this week for our Parish Picnic after the 10am worship service. Please help us by bringing something to share if you can. And cross your fingers for good weather so that we can take in some sunshine together!
All three of our Mission Partners will visit us this fall for worship and for a forum. The first of these visits is this coming Sunday (9/8) when HomeFront will be with us for worship and a 9:00am forum in the Lounge. Please come hear about the opportunities to serve our neighbors and to join in the good work that HomeFront is doing. Help us dive into this new and growing relationship. Then mark your calendars for a visit from Circle of Care on 10/6 and Open Door Shelter on 10/20. We are called by our faith into service and into relationship. I'm so excited about the possibilities and the opportunities coming our way with these new Mission Partners - so I hope you'll join me and the Mission Team as we explore these new paths together.
More than anything, I hope that you'll look for new ways to be involved this year, new ways to grow on your own spiritual journey. There is information in our newsletter about learning to be a Eucharistic Visitor, a Lector, or an Acolyte. Soon, there will be information about our Confirmation program this year, and parents have already heard from Julie (and soon from Samantha!) about youth programs starting up. Next week (9/15) is our first day of Church School - and our fun, joint coffee hour with WPC. We have a new soft space in the sanctuary for the little ones who aren't ready to be still, and a new nursery upstairs to welcome our other young members and visitors. There are already dates on our calendar for adult forums, Pub Theology, Deacon 101, and so much more. So, keep you eye on our newsletter and on the website. And build us in to your routine. You won't want to miss out on all the ways to learn, serve, grow, laugh, and be together. Come see what's new and good at St. Matt's this year and let God lead you into the new and good that is stored up for you in the year ahead.
You are all in my prayers as you settle back into the rhythm of the fall. And I hope to see you on Sunday. God loves you, and so do I.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
