Easter Joy

Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
This week, I hope you'll find many ways to experience and give thanks for the joy of Easter. I'm often fond of reminding folks (and myself!) that the Easter season is actually longer than Lent. It's as if God planned for us to have this joyful season go on for longer than our somber, contemplative season. Which is so fitting and so like God. To assure us and the world that even as we struggle, even as we linger in moments and seasons of uncertainty, God always has something else stored up for us. Something new. Something good. I hope you'll take advantage of this season by spending time with the people you love and making room for this joy.
I want to thank everyone who was a part of our faithful march to the cross during Holy Week and our glorious celebration of Easter. The staff worked tremendously hard to provide so many different opportunities for you to worship and connect. I'm grateful to them for their leadership and their dedication. We also had lay leaders who were so present and faithful and helped bring all of this together. The Flower Guild did beautiful work all week beginning on Palm Sunday and ending with that bright, beautiful display on Easter. The Altar Guild prepared us for many services, minding intricate details each day. The choir led us in wonderful music that enriched our worship and our time together. And there were a few Vestry members and family who helped to support a very festive coffee hour yesterday. Thank you to our acolytes, lay readers, instrumentalists, and everyone who played a role in the week. I'm so grateful to everyone who helped. And I'm grateful to all of who came to worship, pray, and wonder with us. Thank you. Thank you all.
The office is closed this week and the staff are not checking their email. I hope they're enjoying a much needed and well deserved rest! I am reachable should you need me, but am also planning to take a little time away.
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
God bless you and keep you. Happy Easter!
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
