August begins.
Dear friends and members of St. Matt's,
This is always the part of the summer when I look around and can't imagine where it went. How did we get to August already? And how come we always tell ourselves the summer will be slower, and we'll have time to rest and renew, but it never quite feels that way?
There are quite a few good things for you to see and be a part of in this e-news as we settle in to August. If you haven't yet, consider going with Samantha to New Haven on Sunday and participating in an inter-faith service project. You might get to work with some youth from Israel or Palestine - how cool to chat with them while you make a difference together? Make sure you mark your calendar for the 25th so you can come sing with Andrew. And take a look at the worship calendar for this month - remember that we're in the St. Matt's sanctuary the first two weeks in August and worshipping at WPC the last two.
However we got here, I pray you will find some time in August to rest and renew. I'll be carving out some time for vacation with my family and some time to withdraw and listen carefully for God. I hope you'll consider doing the same thing! That time to renew is so important to us - to our wellbeing physically and emotionally, and to our spiritual lives. It's important to make it a priority - even among the many other things that sometimes demand our attention. As always, if you need anything, please don't hesitate to be in touch. God loves you, and so do I.
Faithfully,
--Marissa +
