A Clarion Call from Pam
Dear Friends and Members of St. Matthew’s,
I am writing to you as a long-time parishioner, someone who loves St. Matthew’s and has made deep lasting relationships with many of you over the years, and as someone who has been so glad to welcome new members into our midst. I feel St. Matthew’s needs our commitment and love more than ever, as we struggle through this pandemic, missing the way our life was together, and being unsure when this pandemic will end. This is my clarion call for all of us to think how best to support our faith community during this very odd and troubling time.
We as a church have been through struggles before and weathered them with our big hearts and care for each other. I do feel this pandemic time is our biggest challenge and more than ever we need to take care of each other, support each other and reach out as we have never before. Certainly, in recent days our faith community has been challenged by very sad events. As a faith community we are called to carry God in our hearts and mind, and to do God’s work together.
Part of our love for each other will be finding out who we are and where we are, and how to grow once we can be back together fully. The Spiritual Life Inventory will be one way, though not the only way for us to see each other on this journey. Please take the time to think about where you are and where you would like our beloved church to be as we try to make sense of the world right now. It is so important that we continue to choose each other, learning how to grow together. If every adult in the congregation takes the Spiritual Life Inventory, we will be better able to do that in the season ahead – no matter what happens.
We are lucky to have such a strong loving community that has come together many times before and this time will be no different. We have held each other’s hands in love before and will continue to do so through this very challenging time.
