Pasek and Paul

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are two of the hottest composers in musical
theater. A young, promising team, Pasek and Paul are excited to share their
creative talents, songs and stories about their musicals in a performance at the
Arts at St. Matthew’s. Their shows include “Dogfight” (Second Stage Theater),
“A Christmas Story: the Musical!” (National Tour, 5th Ave. Theater) and “Edges.”
Recent honors have included the 2011 Richard Rogers Award for Musical Theater
from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, 2011 ASCAP Songwriters Fellowship
Award among others. Consummate entertainers, Pasek and Paul are a creative,
energetic duo you won’t want to miss!

An Evening with Liz Callaway

We welcome back the extraordinary voice of Liz Callaway to the Arts at
St. Matthew’s. Since her first performance with us with Stephen Schwartz in
2003, she has been celebrated as a Tony Nominee and Emmy Award-winning
actress, singer and recording artist. She made her Broadway debut in
Stephen Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along, received a Tony nomination for
her performance in “Baby” and for five years, won acclaim as Grizabella in
“Cats.” She has also starred in the original casts of “Miss Saigon,” “The Three
Musketeers,” and the “Look of Love.”

Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks

Grammy award winner Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks are well known
internationally through performances, recordings, film, soundtracks and
television broadcasts. They have performed at the Smithsonian, Carnegie
Hall, Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Museum of Art, international jazz
festivals among countless other venues. Their recent Grammy was awarded
for “Boardwalk Empire—Music from the HBO Original Series.” We are excited
to welcome the 11-piece band to St. Matthew’s. You will not be able to
sit still—so bring your dancing shoes!

Paul Winter Consort
with St. Matthew’s Choirs and Soloists
Sunday, January 13, 4:00 pm
Award-winning saxophonist, bandleader, composer, Paul Winter has created
a body of work that transcends categories, reflecting his wide-ranging
experiences in the musical traditions and natural environments of the earth.
With the Paul Winter Consort, Winter has woven together widely diverse
instruments and elements with the extraordinary voices from what he refers
to as “the greater symphony of the earth,” including wolves, whales, eagles
and other “wilderness musicians.” Winner of seven Grammy awards, Winter
has performed hundreds of concerts in major concert halls and cathedrals of
the Americas, Europe and Asia as well as in natural environments such as the
Grand Canyon. For this special Wilton appearance, the Consort will be joined
by the St. Matthew’s choirs and soloists for an unforgettable experience.
