Convention Worship
Each year, the Episcopal Church in Connecticut (ECCT) gathers for Convention at the end of October or the beginning of November. Every three years, that gathering takes place on a Saturday and a Sunday so that many people from around the diocese can come and worship together on Sunday morning. The expectation, of course, is that all the clergy and lay delegates will be in Hartford for worship. And the invitation is for a number of people from each of the parishes in ECCT to join us for worship.
Three years ago, our preacher was Presiding Bishop Michael Curry (now famous around the world because he preached at the royal wedding! Of course, famous to us for lots of other good reasons, long before that!). This year, the preacher will be the legendary Bishop Barbara Harris. You are invited to Convention Worship, to come and share in the bread and wine with the larger body of the Church, and to hear this fantastic preacher.
Don't worry - if you can't come, we will have supply clergy at St. Matt's for the day. So, our worship will continue as it normally would at 8am and 10am. However, if you can make the trip - it will be a really wonderful day. You do need to register for tickets in advance - they're free - and there's only so much room at the Convention Center in Hartford!
